The Russo Brothers confirmed on Instagram today that production on Netflix’s upcoming action-thriller film The Gray Man has finally been completed after over three months of filming. The star-studded feature will be led by Golden Globe winner Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, whose characters will go head-to-head in this espionage and manhunt story.
Based on Mark Greaney’s 2009 novel, The Gray Mancenters around a freelance assassin and former CIA operative named Court Gentry. Due to the betrayal of his own agency, he has been forced to become a fugitive. The action thriller adaptation is described as a deadly duel between killers as Gentry is hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen, a former cohort of Gentry’s at the CIA.
The film will feature an ensemble cast including Gosling, Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Wagner Moura, Alfre Woodard, Regé-Jean Page, Billy Bob Thornton, Julia Butters, Dhanush, Scott Haze, Calla Mulvey, Eme Ikwuakor, Michael Gandolfini, Sam Lerner, Robert Kazinsky, and DeObia Oparei.
The Gray Man is directed by Avengers: Endgamefilmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo from a script written by Joe Russo with “a polish” by AGBO’s Co-Presidents of Story and MCU writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The intention for the project is to create a new franchise on a “James Bond-level” with a reported budget of upwards of $200 million.
The film is being produced by AGBO’s the Russo Brothers and Mike Larocca along with Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum for Roth Kirschenbaum.
